Hello future Financial Accountant

We see institutions as but not limited to, pension funds, long and short-term insurers, re-insurers, as well as medical aid schemes.

In this role you will be required to provide accurate financial reports and information by analysing and interpreting financial data and results

Are You Someone Who Can
  • Prepare and capture month end journals.
  • Maintain accounting hygiene and focus on financial controls.
  • Be responsible for end to end financial accounting responsibilities which includes revenue and tax calculations.
  • Note all material once off amounts for the month and report to management accounting during P and L analysis.
  • Compare preliminary flash and final flash results.
  • Provide valid explanation for the numbers and results, and related queries.
  • Analyse and reconcile profit and loss for statutory and regulatory reporting.
  • Analyse, reconcile and substantiate balance sheet for statutory and regulatory reporting.
  • Compile FAS pack.
  • Ensure accuracy, validity and completeness of all statutory reporting.
  • Ensure correct format and data reconciles for regulatory reporting.
  • Engage with key stakeholders in order to best estimate business expectations.
  • Compile the forecast and budget per Business Unit
  • Assist with budget presentation to internal stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain professional working relationships with all stakeholders displaying excellent abilities to initiate dialogue listen advise influence and negotiate to achieve win-win outcomes.
  • Initiate meetings with key stakeholders to track progress manage expectations and ensure stakeholders requirements are delivered.
  • Preserve relationships despite airing conflicting views and seeks mutual gains when addressing conflicts.
  • Anticipate consequences and adapt problem solving based on continual feedback.
  • Act speedily to resolve problems queries and complaints.
  • Adapt communication styles to meet the needs of different audiences.
  • Make an effort to stay relevant and up to date with relevant banking industry compliance i.e., FAIS.
  • Consolidate data and present results to relevant business owners.
  • Adjust and tailor the approach taken to level and needs of relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure documents are formalised and numbers have been checked before board meeting for shared understanding.
  • Ensure reported data and information adds value to stakeholders.
  • Provide clear commentary on monthly performance.
  • Approve expenses and open portfolios.
  • Enhance financial reporting disclosure.
  • Test relevant systems enhancements and improvements.

  • CA(SA)
  • Have 3 years experience in a similar environment.
  • Are not permanently employed and seeking a short-term assignment (this position is a 12-month contract)
