G4S Secure Solutions (SA), a leading provider of integrated security management solutions, has a vacancy for a Financial Controller based at our Head Office in Centurion, Gauteng and reporting to the Finance Director.
The successful incumbent is a self-starter with a proven track record in maintaining company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgement in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role which the Financial Controller plays within a successful business unit. Role Responsibility
Main Purpose of the Position
This role is responsible to oversee the financial controlling function including the compilation of financial statements, recon reviews, group reporting, implementation of financial controls and other related activities for all entities.
Main Responsibilities
Ensure that a proper financial and internal control environment is maintained
- Ensure compliance with G4S Minimum Financial control policies
- Ensure that suitable controls are in place to prevent or detect material misstatements in the financial records of the entity
- Create and upload MFC data
- Review MFC data submitted by Finance Managers
- Ensure that the company complies with the requirements as set out in the Companies Act 2008 as well as any related legislation, including tax legislation.
- Ensure continuous review of financial controls, processes and systems to drive improvements and efficiencies
- Develop and formulate financial procedures to maintain proper financial controls
- SOX compliance control
- Fixed asset management control.
- Collect information and compile monthly management reports
- Ensure timeous and accurate submission of financial monthly results
- Loading of monthly results for Group Reporting (P&L, BS, Cashflow etc)
- Compilation of TB to BPC reconciliation
- Verify actual results for variances to previous reporting periods, or to identify inaccuracies
- Ensure compliance with IFRS
- Ensure that all ad-hoc group reporting requests are adhered to
- Coordinate with stakeholders and regional finance teams to collate required information for reporting
- Supporting Finance and Operations in ERP implementations.
- Act as liaison with Group Internal Audit (GIA) and external auditors
- Investigate and follow-up on discrepancies of audit reports and reporting thereof to management
- Management of interim, annual and ad hoc audits, including preparation and sign off of Annual Financial Statements
- Develop in conjunction with stakeholders and an action plan to address findings and manage progress appropriately
- Ensure timeous closure of open audit findings
- Develop, formulate and implement audit policies and procedures in line with Group guidelines.
- Management of tax compliance for the organisation
- Improve processes and controls around compliance, to ensure ongoing adherence to legislation
- Manage and conduct tax audits, including preparation and addressing all tax related queries
- Oversight on all tax-related reports and submissions including but not exclusive to PAYE, VAT, Provisional Tax Submissions etc
- Prepare and liaise with auditors and authorities on tax audits
- Analyse General ledger accounts for tax calculation purposes
- Ensure compliance with existing policies and procedures
- Ensure timeous tax submissions.
- Ensure overall compliance of staff to financial procedures and policies.
- All team members have clearly defined job profiles aligned to manager profile
- Regular goal review completed assessing achievement of results
- Support, coaching and mentoring is continuously provided to ensure that objectives are met
- Completed development plans for each employee
- Appropriate allocation of resources to meet operational demands
- Ensure that events/activities taking place in teams are effectively communicated within the team and to other teams requiring the information
- Ensure adequate succession plan to meet ongoing and anticipated business requirements.
- Preparation of budgeted/forecasted numbers
- Ensure that accurate budget/forecast templates are loaded in the system (ERP and BPC)
- Manage the maintenance of acceptable accounting records of the Financial transactions and results
- Ensure compliance of Annual Financial Statements in line with IFRS
- Obtain timeous sign-off on AFS
- Liaise and work with external auditors to finalise annual financial statements
- Liaise with relevant internal departments to provide the necessary documentation for the production of financial statement
- Preparation of Consolidations
- Compilation of Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Manage the performance of accurate and complete provisions and accruals
- Balance sheet reconciliation reviews for all entities
- Participate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and monitoring of the departmental safety plans for each year.
- Participate in safety forums created by the company for example safety meetings and safety talks
- Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
- Discuss all safety incidents
- Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meeting/committee/representative/management
- Attend safety education and refresher programs
- Comply with safety policies and procedures at the workplace
- Distribute safety information as and when required
- Wear protective clothing all the time.
Qualification & Experience
- Qualified CA (SA)
- Minimum of 5 years management accounting related experience essential
- Minimum of 5 years People management
- SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) knowledge/experience recommended
- Computer literacy with specific reference to advance Excel
