PURPOSE
The primary responsibility of the Project Controller is to oversee the financial management and related risks of the local transportation business.
GENERAL ACCOUNTING
General accounting
- Oversee the input for transactional processing by the finance team to the outsourced service provider.
- Manage the operational requirement of the Service Level Agreement for transactional processing, including the improvement of efficiencies.
- Compile Standard Operational Procedures as guidelines for the monitoring and controlling of the outsourced transaction and reporting services.
- Ensure the monthly performance and review of general ledger accounts reconciliations.
- Compiling of monthly management accounts for financial performance measurement, namely, monthly Business Operations Review pack for the South African transportation operations.
- Provide analytic insight and hindsight on actual and forecast financial performance of the entities.
- Compile annual financial statements for all Southern Africa legal entity.
- Manage interim and year-end audit process and requirements with external auditors.
- Ensure effective and compliant internal control systems in line with best practice and Group Internal Control Questionnaire and Yearly Annual Letter.
- Ensure entities are compliant with all local tax legislations, including Valued Added Tax, Custom duty and Company tax.
- Ensure compliance with data protection and local legislations requirement for Finance.
- Compiling annual budget plan for Southern Africa entity, including aligned budget guidelines and plans to set targets and strategic objectives.
- Financial forecasts / Planning Cycles
- Monitoring and challenging of assumptions informing quarterly forecast updates.
- Align and manage financial situation and flow through to all entities
- Financial Management of Consortium, incl. guarantees
- Risk Management, describe and calculated risk mitigation actions
- Earned Values Analyses for customer report
- Management of Budgets for subcontractors, check invoices against subcontract, approve invoices and escalations
- Management of project milestones
- Claiming / Invoicing / Escalation calculations & claims for the consortium and TSAS
- Cash Management
- Tax and VAT management internationally
- Revenue recognition
- Work together with other entities including (Country, GBU & Regional) to ensure financial bid process is applied
- Work together with other Thales companies as appropriate to ensure bid submission in accordance with group financial interests
- Work together with Other departments (sales, legal, contracts, procurement, , projects) to maximize probability of successful tenders & project execution
- Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/CA) with strong commercial and technical accounting experience, preferably with exposure to contractual law and tax.
