What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it)
You will be reporting directly into the young, dynamic and driven MD. He's looking for a right hand, a fully capable professional that will help him guide the business to growth and development.
Your role will be ensure the overall effective financial management and reporting for the organisation including all subsidiaries, associates, and trusts. Actively contribute towards the financial planning and strategic growth of the organisation as a member of the Executive Team. You will be responsible for strategic management - developing and maintaining strategies for market positioning, financial management, risk management, treasury, compliance, legal, and supply chain management.
From a financial management point of view, you will focus on effective management and control of all capital and revenue budgets and effective management and control of the management and administration, finance, presented and produced resources and budgets. To lead on the financial aspects of any strategic projects aimed at achieving growth the of the organisation.
You will be ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of management accounts, the effective operation and development of management systems for all accounting functions, particularly those relating to the general ledger, sales ledger, payroll, cash and banking, and stock control. To be responsible for the preparation of appropriate financial reports for the organization, such as business review meetings and board meetings, as and when required. To plan and prepare financial management documents, including financial plans, budgets, and forecasts. To manage and oversee the preparation of all statutory returns and to maximise income from the operations of the organization.
We're looking for a professional that is fully conversant with new initiatives, new legislation, and modern thinking in all matters relating to financial management and to advise the Directors and Shareholders accordingly..
You will be leading the Finance team of 2 employees by establishing excellent ongoing working relationships with the team through recruitment, training, performance management and communication.
Where you'll be doing it
Our client is a fast growing manufacturing and retail company with operations in Johannesburg South with a turnover in excess of R500 million per annum and 135 employees. The company is innovative, sell locally and are looking at moving in to the USA market. T here is pretty much a blank canvas and the driven MD is looking for someone to help him develop the business. It has a family feel to it but that are professional and have a corporate approach. The MD's management style is firm but fair, he is looking for someone that can lead by example. The working hours are 07:15 to 16:15. The company believes in assisting the unemployable as part of their workforce which brings a special nature to the company in that you'll be dealing with people from all walks of life and so we're looking for the right person that be a good fit for that.
What you'll need
Non-negotiable for a ACMA / CA (SA) qualification coupled with a minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience in manufacturing, of which a minimum of 5 of those years at top management level, with multi-disciplined team approach experience where you're able to work with people from all walks of life. There is a preference for someone that has experience with a manufacturing and retail concern.
We're looking for someone fluent in English and Afrikaans. You would need to have experience working with a similar turnover. You will need to be competent with an ERP system. Preference for Syspro and you'll need strong IT skills.
We're looking for someone that is able to set targets, motivate and inspire staff to achieve them, able to prioritise tasks under pressure, work in a fast paced environment, is self-motivated and has a high level of integrity and confidentiality. You would need to be willing to work additional hours to meet business expectations.
