Requirements
- Matric.
- Minimum 2 years' experience post trade in the food industry working on cookers and boilers.
- Experience must also include stirrers, gearboxes, steamers and pressure vessels.
- Equipment Maintenance: Conducting routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on industrial cookers, boilers, and related machinery to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.
- Fault Diagnosis: Identifying and diagnosing equipment malfunctions or breakdowns, using tools and diagnostic equipment to pinpoint issues.
- Machine Setup: Setting up and calibrating cookers and boilers according to specific recipes or production requirements, ensuring accurate temperature and pressure control.
- Repairs and Replacements: Replacing faulty components, such as valves, gaskets, seals, and heating elements, to maintain equipment functionality.
- Welding and Fabrication: Performing welding and metal fabrication tasks to repair or modify equipment components when necessary.
- Preventive Maintenance: Developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime and prolong its lifespan.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring that all maintenance and repair activities adhere to safety protocols and regulatory standards, especially in the food industry where hygiene and safety are paramount.
- Documentation: Keeping detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and replacement parts to maintain an accurate maintenance history.
- Troubleshooting: Analyzing complex problems in cookers and boilers and developing innovative solutions to minimize production interruptions.
- Collaboration: Coordinating with production and engineering teams to schedule maintenance and repairs during production downtime to minimize disruption.
- Equipment Testing: Conducting performance tests and quality checks after maintenance to verify that cookers and boilers meet operational standards.
- Inventory Management: Managing an inventory of spare parts and ordering replacements as needed to maintain optimal equipment functionality.
- Adherence to Food Safety Standards: Ensuring that all maintenance work complies with food safety regulations and standards to prevent contamination or hazards.
- Training and Supervision: Training and supervising junior maintenance staff, providing guidance and support in maintenance tasks.
- Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in the maintenance and operation of cookers and boilers.
