Food scientist / Dietitian with food industry experience is required at consulting company (FACTS) in Stellenbosch, Cape Winelands.
Head of Technical & Innovation at FACTS (Food & Allergy Consulting & Testing Services): Department types of services may include labelling, regulatory, testing, new product development, scientific and research related that may involve reporting, outsourced testing, research and/or training.
Job responsibilities:
- Strategize how the department continues to be, and can become in line with the company vision
- Field and manage all technical queries (other than allergen-related - as listed above) and ensure that the correct solution is offered to the client
- Coordinate with suitable team members to execute projects
- Initiate in-house initiatives such as hosting regulatory workshops, attending of talks, training of staff, liaising with regulatory authorities
- From time to time it may be necessary to execute a project or presentation other than to use a resource Administration
- Ensure the client is quoted on technical projects (other than allergen-related)
- Ensure reports are created for these technical projects
- Ensure that the invoice is sent to the client and that payment is made before the release of reports
- Oversee administration related to in-house initiatives that would be important for this position to manage (e.g., regulatory workshop)
- Outsourced testing (O.T)
- Preparing O.T lab request forms, delivery notes
- Arranging O.T lab PO’s and couriers for sending samples to various labs
- Follow-up on lab results
- Request lead-times from labs Client relationships
- Ensure that each client feels that their query is addresse
- Ensure that deadlines are met
- Determine whether there are other services that the company may be able to offer the client
- If necessary, schedule and attend meetings with clients
- Liaise with the client relationships decision point person to maximise the relationship with clients
Job requirements:

- Knowledge of SA food legislation, or willingness to learn.
- 3 year industry experience.
- Scientific background, preferably a Food scientist or Dietitian
- Starting date: 8 January 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter
- Remuneration: industry related
