PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To supervise and assist the team in the safe and cost-effective execution of all mechanical maintenance work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 /STD 10 (NQF 4) is essential.
- Recognized relevant mechanical Trade qualification (section 13) is essential.
- OR
- Proof of recognised completed apprenticeship contract (completed by means of effluxion of time) AND NTC 2 (Relevant Trade Theory) Qualification is essential.
- At least 3 years working experience as a Conveyor Artisan is essential.
- Valid Medical Certificate, or medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate.
- Computer literacy (MS Office package) is essential.
- Read, interpret, and produce basic engineering drawings.
- Perform basic firefighting.
- Perform basic first aid.
- Supervise the Conveyor workshop and maintenance activities.
- Guide, direct and assist Artisans with daily maintenance and construction activities.
- Maintain control of Engineering workshop, stores.
- Meet regularly with employees to analyse problems and maintain a healthy service and relationship between personnel and with clients.
- Attend to call outs with regards to breakdowns
- Diagnose, analyse, and repair faults on equipment and machinery during production / operation.
- Provide adequate workshop store facility and stock levels for efficient maintenance and productivity levels.
- Supervise maintenance of conveyors (mechanical)
- Plan belt extensions and maintenance (splicing, repairs, replacement, tests)
- Commissioning of conveyor belts and any other related machinery
- Supervise the work unit to achieve work unit objectives (individuals and teams)
- Conduct on-the-job training and coaching.
- Monitor performance against budget (expense controls, variances, etc.)
- Ensure weekly legal inspections on conveyor belts are conducted by the artisans.
- Conduct monthly Foreman legal inspections on conveyor belts.
- Conduct weekly inspections on work done to ensure quality maintenance is done on conveyor belts.
- Conduct weekly PTOs on employees working on the conveyor belt section.
