Fund Accountant

A prominent player in the private equity sector, specialising in global alternative investment management with a focus on expansion and replacement capital, is in search of a Fund Accountant to join their thriving team in Johannesburg.

As a valuable member of the finance team within this innovative and entrepreneurial organisation, the primary goal of this position will be to collaborate closely with senior finance professionals to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations related to private equity funds under management.

This role necessitates a commercially savvy individual with strong technical expertise, self-driven motivation, and a results-oriented mindset.

Key Qualifications And Experience Required For The Fund Accountant

• Newly Qualified CA (SA) or
• SAIPA with 1-3 years relevant experience
• Background in Financial Services and exposure to the Private Equity space (advantageous)
• Demonstrated knowledge of IFRS and fund accounting
• Experience in SA tax, company secretarial, and private equity administration (a plus)
• Must have appropriate accounting background experience

Key Duties Of The Fund Accountant

• Assist the Fund Finance Manager with their duties
• Involved in relevant administration and support for the firms Impact/ESG function in terms of which ESG data metrics are collected from underlying portfolio investments etc.
• Assist with financial and administrative aspects related to private equity partnerships
• Collaborate to develop and implement best practices for PE Fund Management and Administration
• Support in managing investor tax reporting and overseeing portfolio transactions
• Assist in ensuring compliance with corporate governance, including preparations for board meetings
• Provide support in overseeing external fund administrators and managing quarterly fund accounts
• Contribute to the oversight of bookkeeping and annual audits
• Assist in handling FAIS compliance and reporting responsibilities
• Offer assistance to the Fund Finance Manager in leading various ad hoc finance and admin projects across the Group as needed
