Job Overview
Constantia Fertilizer is seeking a results-driven and strategic General Manager to lead our sales and client relations efforts. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive revenue growth, build strong client relationships, and position Constantia Fertilizer as a leader in the industry. The General Manager will work closely with regional - and technical managers who oversee day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities And Duties
- Strategic Sales Leadership
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and market expansion goals
- Identify new business opportunities, market trends, and competitive landscapes to drive continuous growth
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and ensuring customer satisfaction
- Act as the primary point of contact for strategic clients, addressing concerns, and proactively seeking opportunities to add value
- Work closely with regional and technical managers to align sales strategies with production capabilities, ensuring timely delivery and meeting customer expectations
- Provide guidance and support to regional and technical managers to enhance operational efficiency and quality
- Position Constantia Fertiliser as a preferred supplier in the industry through effective branding, marketing, and communication strategies
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities, adjusting strategies as needed to maintain a competitive edge
- Lead negotiations with clients and suppliers on contracts, pricing, and terms, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements
- Oversee the management of contracts to ensure compliance
- Build and lead a high-performing sales team, providing guidance, coaching, and support
- Foster a collaborative and innovative sales culture focused on exceeding client expectations
- Develop and manage sales budgets, tracking performance against targets and identifying areas for improvement
- Collaborate with finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and forecasting
- Oversee stock orders, negotiate prices, and maintain vendor relationships
- Manage stock levels and orders for the various plants
- Procure raw materials on local and international markets
- Bachelors degree in business, Sales, or a related field
- Masters degree (advantageous)
- At least 5 years experience in sourcing fertiliser raw materials on the international and local markets
- Proven experience in a strategic sales leadership role within the fertilizer or related industry
- Strong understanding of client relationship management, contract negotiation, and sales strategies
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and regional managers
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with industry regulations and market dynamics
