The General Manager Sub-Saharan Africa at Johnson Controls will have full P&L responsibility for the direct channel in Sub-Saharan Africa, overseeing Controls, Security, Chillers, Air-side, Service and Parts. Reporting directly to the VP & GM Middle East Africa Region, the General Manager will be responsible for increasing market share and profitability in Sub-Saharan Africa across the entire Building Technologies and Solutions portfolio. This role will involve driving expansion and growth in challenging markets with a metro-market strategy and leading a significant employee team.
How You Will Do It
- Increase market share and profitability in Sub-Saharan Africa across the Building Technologies and Solutions portfolio.
- Achieve strategic and financial objectives set out in the Middle East Africa strategic plan, with a focus on profitable growth and margin expansion.
- Deploy the right go-to-market approach for each line of business and build organizational capability with sales, operations, and support functions across the country.
- Build organizational capacity to encourage sales and operational excellence, empower teams, and drive performance and accountability.
- Utilize industry knowledge and networks to improve market penetration and bring on new accounts, as well as grow opportunities within existing accounts.
- Work closely with other channel and product leaders to identify and close local market gaps and lead the commercial integration of legacy businesses.
- Drive profitable volume growth and define strategies that achieve long-term goals.
- Act as an entrepreneurial leader, commercially astute, and technically proficient in the building automation and HVAC industry.
- Dynamic responsibility for sales and operational management in a multi-faceted business.
- Proven track record of delivering business growth within a systems and service business.
- Recent experience working at a leadership level in the Africa region.
- Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated ability in directing a team of senior managers or 2nd tier leadership experience.
- Experience in leading all aspects of multiple functions, especially sales and operations.
- Commercially astute with knowledge of contractual agreements within a sales environment, focusing on contractors and end users.
- Knowledge of commercializing a product and ability to design go-to-market strategies with brand positioning.
- Technically proficient in the building automation and HVAC industry.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships across business areas to gain trust.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels and environments.
