On behalf of our client the Swaziland Building Society (SBS), we invite applications from well-rounded and experienced leaders for the position of General Manager. Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the General Manager will support the Managing Director in executing the duties of the office in accordance with the provisions of the Building Societies Act (1962), as well as the Society Rules (1997). The General Manager will also provide strategic management and leadership to the management team and staff, ensuring overall sound financial and human resources management, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of delivery by SBS. The ability to provide visionary leadership, and respond to change in a proactive manner are considered key for success in this role.
Key performance areas
- Support the Managing Director in providing strategic direction to SBS, ensuring the continued existence, growth, and sound financial performance of the organisation, as well as its adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the implementation of strategic and operational plans to ensure the sound financial performance of SBS.
- Ensure the development and regular review of appropriate policies and procedures which promote accountability and client centricity throughout the organisation.
- Ensure the development of appropriate products and service levels to meet the identified needs of clients within the product and service portfolio provided by SBS.
- Provide guidance and leadership to the management and staff in Swaziland Building Society to ensure appropriate organisational and individual development and growth.
- Ensure sound discipline and adherence to all the appropriate regulatory and statutory requirements, including those relating to finances and the recording of financial transactions.
- Ensure the development and implementation of appropriate risk management procedures and internal controls for the protection of all assets of SBS.
Professional background & competencies
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Management accompanied by an appropriate qualification relating to Banking.
- Minimum 15 years' relevant experience, 5 of which should have been in a management position in a competitive banking environment.
- Extensive financial management experience.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to plan, organise, lead & direct as required by the organisation.lAdvanced computer literacy.
- Strong change management skills.
- Well established interpersonal & communication abilities.
