Purpose of Job

To manage the implementation of exploration processes and activities related to the Geology and Rights and Properties fields to secure successful mines and projects.

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

Ensure modelling and database software is fit for purpose and provide guidance and training to other users.

Manage the integration of qualities from the laboratory into the database and ensure the accuracy thereof

Thorough understanding of geological software and modelling principles

Manage the annual geological modelling process for Sasol Mining

In depth knowledge of coal qualities including washability

Provide a holistic overview of weekly coal qualities and geological conditions to customers

Ability to log and sample boreholes to the required standard

Create, clarify, embed and enforce geological standards

Identify, share and embed best practices and new technologies

Effective communication and presentation skills

Coaching and mentoring of junior geologists and EITs
