Main purpose of the role
The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for the integrity of the financial statements through the monitoring of data processed by accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, controlling, and the closing of the books in a timely manner.
Essential Responsibilities And Duties
To support the Accounting Manager in the following activities:
- Provide support for statutory and management accounting to AM; compliance with IFRS; and tax requirements
- Full responsibility of asset function including Register, GL, depreciation, and AUC
- Provide support with AIS claims (Asset section)
- Assist with BBBEE data by generating & consolidating purchases for supplier spend
- Validation of third-party payment requisitions
- Intercompany reconciliation and month end journal preparation
- SARS VAT201 & EMP201 submissions
- Preparation of monthly B/S recons
- Manage journal entry process including supporting documents
- Support the implementation of ICB findings and recommendations
- Assist with customer tooling audits
- Assist and train the Financial Accounting Graduate
Minimum education level:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business
- 2-5 years of experience in Accounting
- Strong knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft office
- Strong accounting understanding and ability
- Self-directed, able to work independently and with a team
- Ability to identify root causes and resolve issues
- Strong communication skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- SAP experience is an advantage
- Automotive experience is an advantage
