(FAIS Ombud) is established in terms of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 37 of 2002 (the FAIS Act). Its objective is to consider and dispose of complaints in a procedurally fair, informal, economical and expeditious manner and by reference to what is equitable in all circumstances. The FAIS offices are in the east of Pretoria in Gauteng.
In order to discharge its mandate, the FAIS Ombud seeks to appoint Graduate Trainees as part of the Graduate Recruitment Programme. This is a structured programme specifically designed to produce a pipeline of competent trainee entrants to the labour market.
Duration The duration of the programme is twelve (12) months.
Roll out of the Programme: Recommended candidates will be given an opportunity to learn under a dedicated mentor. Graduates will be assigned to various Departments, based on their qualifications and aspirations, and exposed to various competency-based training during the duration of the twelve-month programme. - Working in a team of experienced lawyers, financial planner(s), Investigators and negotiators.
- Training on the financial planning process, insurance, investments, retirement planning, financial services legislation and drafting.
- Opportunity to be part of an established statutory office and a Mentorship Programme.
- South African citizen with a valid South African Identity document.
- LLB degree.
- Passion for public service and an interest/desire to work in the Financial Sector.
- Strong academic background and good drafting skills.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment, willing to learn and work extra hours.
- Energetic, self-driven and deadline driven.
- Must be computer literate.
- PLT (Practical Legal Training) will be an advantage.
