WILD Fund (Grants) Assistant

Chemonics seeks a WILD Fund (Grants) Assistant for the USAID/Southern Africa Countering Wildlife Crime (CWC) Activity. The purpose of the five-year Countering Wildlife Crime Activity is to reduce threats to and protect biodiversity from wildlife crimes in Southern Africa. The Activity will build on the long history of the USAID Southern Africa Regional Mission in countering wildlife crime (CWC) through partnerships with regional organizations, governments, the private sector, and civil society. Measurable development outcomes include improved coordination between stakeholders, strengthened criminal justice sector capacity, and increased resilience to corruption. This position will be based in Pretoria, South Africa. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people and communities around the world.

Responsibilities Include
  • Support the WILD Fund (Grants) Manager in all aspects of grant management of the CWC grants portfolio, ensuring grant effectiveness and in compliance with USAID and Chemonics procedures from development through solicitation to closeout cycle
  • Support in reviewing allgrant applications, invoices, and milestones (in collaboration with the technical specialists) for quality, contractual consistency, accuracy, and compliance with USAID regulations
  • Support grant-level procurement; budget tracking; milestone tracking; support activity implementation and monitoring
  • Maintain complete grant files of all documentation generated per grantee, ensuring they are always up to date
  • Assist in schedulingproposal evaluations, pre-award assessment visits, and training
  • Regularly update grant trackers, or other tracking tools, and attend and contribute to grants-related meetings
  • Support the WILD Fund (Grants) Manager in grantee award, negotiations, implementation, and close-out
  • Promote the highest levels of honesty, integrity, openness and transparency in administering grants award processes and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the WILD Fund (Grants) Manager
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in relevant field preferred
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in grants administration
  • Previous experience on international donor-funded grants programs, especially USAID-funded projects or programs, preferred.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically in MS Excel and Word
  • Strong organizational, work prioritization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and exercise good, professional judgment that reflects positively on the image and communicates the established program message of the project
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively within a team
  • Possess excellent organizational and strong multi-tasking skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skillsin English, with command of another regional language a plus
