My client is a privately owned Civil Engineering Business, turnover c. £15m, whose main activities are earthworks and site development, landfill, environmental and specialist ground treatments.
They have just secured part of the prestigious Celtic Manor Convention Centre contract in Newport, South Wales, covering drainage, ground works, foundations and infrastructure. They are looking for a Ground Works Foreman to start on the project immediately.
You will be responsible for
- Assessing job priorities and assigning work
- Supervising the construction team and ensuring correct work procedures and safety precautions are followed
- Coordinating orders, timesheets and materials and ensure work is on schedule and to cost
- Liaising with site engineers and other sub-contractors
- Resolving issues and problems
You will have experience of managing direct labour teams and effectively managing priorities.
Good communication and problem solving skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers and other sub-contractors
A good understanding of blue-prints, sketches, drawings and measuring quantities
You should hold a CSCS card and either have a degree in Civil Engineering or a similar depth of technical expertise gained through at least 5 years similar experience.
