Role Details
Gold Fields is currently seeking a Group Social Performance Principal to join the Group Sustainable Development team. Reporting to the Vice President Social Performance, this role is responsible for providing input into the development of the Groups Social Performance and Sustainable Development (SD)-related stakeholder relations vision, policy and strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide input into the development of the Groups Social Performance strategy by anticipating issues, challenges, and risks
- Provide input into the development of social targets, standards, systems, reporting, performance tracking, assurance and change management to facilitate the delivery of the strategy
- Support Social Performance with a collaborative and multifunctional approach
- Keep abreast of regulatory and industry trends in Social Performance to guide responses to address these trends, as well as participate in relevant industry working groups
- Assist the Regions on key technical matters related to Social Performance and facilitate regional dialogues and knowledge sharing
- Identify Social Performance risks and opportunities and lead and co-ordinate efforts to mitigate and optimise them
- Provide support to operations and regions on group initiatives
- Monitor and report quarterly and annual performance against the Group Social Performance requirements. Keep abreast of and adopt latest innovations, systems, and technologies pertaining to data management to enable the provision of data integrity, accuracy, and efficiency
- Quality control and technical review of regional Social Performance reporting to the executive and the Board Social, Ethics and Transformation (SET) Committee
- Post Graduate Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences (geography, anthropology, sociology, economics, development, etc.) or related sustainable development field
- A proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in Social Performance
- Knowledge of Social Performance key issues and best practices
- Experience in Social Performance management systems - standards, policies and procedures, internal and external reporting, risk and impact identification and management, KPIs and management dashboards, monitoring and evaluation
- Broad and in-depth experience in areas of Social Performance including human rights, stakeholder perceptions of risk, social economic and institutional development, local procurement, stakeholder engagement
- Expertise in two or more of artisanal and small-scale mining, resettlement and land acquisition, Indigenous Peoples, social transitioning
- Experience in collaborating with other functions to integrate Social Performance into business management systems and processes
