About The Role
Macmillan Education South Africa is seeking to appoint an experienced professional to the position as Publisher. This role will be responsible for publishing and managing a wide range of high quality, profitable titles and projects for the TVET segment. We require an effective person, who will obtain high approval results and timeously delivery of agreed projects within the parameters of agreed schedules, costs and quality for the TVET market, thus contributing to the overall revenue and market share growth of Macmillan South Africa
Role Responsibilities:
- Conceptualise and manage the development of high-quality TVET content for engineering and occupational subjects.
- Ensure that educational materials reflect and meet the regulatory, curriculum, learning and teaching requirements of the TVET sector.
- Manage and track a list of publishing projects to schedule.
- Ensure successful submissions to the DHET or other industry bodies as required.
- Research, plan and present proposals for new and revised educational materials.
- Manage the administration relating to budgets, records and contracts meticulously.
- Develop realistic project budgets and ensure that projects are published within budget.
- Identify, brief and manage authors, reviewers and subject matter experts.
- Negotiate contracts and fees.
- Build strong working relationships with authors and other stakeholders in the sector.
- Craft marketing materials for sales and promotional activities.
- Maintain a deep understanding of customers through visits to colleges and other institutions.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
- BSc degree or similar. A teaching qualification is an advantage.
- MS Office and PowerPoint. MathType is an advantage.
- Experience in educational materials development, especially technical and/or occupational content.
- Able to engage competently and critically with technical content.
- Self-motivated, proactive and organised.
- Experience in prioritising, meeting deadlines and working well under pressure.
- Good command of English, both written and verbal.
- Developing, presenting and managing budgets for books and projects.
- Able to work independently as well as operate as a team player.
- Able to manage people and complex projects.
- Able to articulate clear briefs and instructions.
