Overview
We are sourcing a Head of Engineering to join a creator focused NFT marketplace, powered by blockchain technology. The company’s vision is to develop a creator’s economy to use, buy, sell and trade digital products in a smart contract environment.
The ideal candidate will consider themselves among the top 1% in their field, with a demonstrated ability to work in world-class software development organizations, providing insights into the organization’s capacity and demand, identifying and managing risks, supporting early detection of project execution issues and providing fact-based information and analysis to various stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements:
- 6+ years building highly performant, rich websites - please share your portfolio with us
- 4+ years’ experience with React.js, Redux and Webpack
- Experience with WebAssembly modules in the browser will be a decided advantage
- Knowledge of design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
- Proficient with git / GitHub
- Organized, ability to be self-managed, and able to collaborate across teams spread over multiple time zones
- You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to take design and wireframes provided by the UX team and author professional and maintainable code that follows best practices
- A track record in Open-source development is an advantage
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics from a recognized university (advantage)

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assume the overall product manager role
- You will be responsible for driving the overall progress of the platform’s ecosystem forward. This must be done in partnership with the other key stakeholders of the platform, following Agile development practices
- Work with head of protocol and other leadership to define deliverables and timelines, using Agile practices and including input from Engineering and QA to inform these plan
- Foster a culture of feedback and communication. Develop systems and processes that lead to sustainable development and QA environments
- You will maintain regular contact with the squad and track & measure progress
- Work with the Head of Design, Product, and Engineering to recruit, retain, allocate and oversee resources according to the Squad model
- Measure, track and improve on the key platform metrics
- Define key tracking metrics and benchmarks of success for the platform’s ecosystem, using tools like Google Analytics, Amplitude, and Metabase
- Establish baselines for our key performance metrics
- Identify trends that "move the needle" and ruthlessly cut activities that do not help drive key performance measures
- Report on these metrics as part of quarterly KPI goals
- Collaborate on overall technical strategy with senior leadership and Head of Platform, as the person who has their finger on the pulse of the commercial performance of the product, you will be integral in helping define the technical direction of the platform in concert with the CEO, COO, CTO, Head of Engineering, and Head of Platform
- Manage the hiring for technical roles
- You will identify gaps in resourcing and use the recruiting resources at our disposal to efficiently recruit the right talent to fill those gaps
- Oversee integration with our partners
- You will be meeting regularly with our integration partners and helping them destroy any barriers preventing the efficient integration of our product into their platforms
- Follow the 80/20 principle in prioritizing new development features that aid partners in the widest and deepest impact possible
- Manage expectations for quality for product integrations. We set a high bar and expect our partners to do the same
- Manage timelines and foment urgency in delivery.
