The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial control processes within a large market/region, supporting the implementation of the Group's Financial Control strategy, driving an appropriate control and compliance environment, and overseeing the production of financial reporting.
The purpose of this role is to be the global pillar lead for Financial Reporting & Control, establishing an appropriate internal control environment and finance policies, leading the group's relationship with its external auditors and supporting the Group CFO with the implementation of the group's strategy for finance.
Responsibilities Include
- Owning the development of the group's internal financial controls, finance policies and technical accounting policies and being responsible for their consistent application across the group
- Designing and implementing mechanisms for ensuring that the amounts recorded in the group balance sheet are robust and reliable and that the underlying risks and opportunities are properly understood
- Owning the process of the preparation of the Group's reporting requirements and its consolidated financial statements (at half year and year-end)
- Implementing global policy and supporting regional/local accounting controls, financial controls and compliance where appropriate
- Supporting local/regional/group capital requirements, debt, taxation, insurance and risk management activities
- Sponsoring and driving continuous improvement/change programmes throughout their implementation to achieve project benefits
- Building capabilities, tools and skills within Financial Control to increase efficiency and the value add of the Financial Control team within a market
- Being the primary local market point of contact for the market/regional/group Operational Finance and Commercial Finance pillar heads
- Managing internal/external audit for the market, including managing all regulatory compliance
- Providing key technical accounting support to market/regional/Group CFO on accounting issues, including production of accounting papers and audit committee papers
- Monitoring impact of regulatory developments and issuance of new Standards and leading the project to implement the new standard for the Group
- Leading and motivating the Financial Reporting & Control team to meet or exceed its objectives
- Ensuring that the team members are appropriately managed within a Performance Management framework, including objective setting, monitoring, feedback and reward setting
