Seeking a strong Commercial Leader with strong sales and marketing leadership experience, gained in the Animal Health Industry (Open to AH portfolio/area and can include Retail/FMCG/COnsumer Goods)
The Opportunity
Business Unit Head position is responsible for both sales and marketing & technical organization within the related franchise. The position directly reports the Country Head of Animal Health organization and an active member of Animal Health Leadership team. The successful individual will be responsible for the strategic business planning process throughout BU activities surrounding planning, organizing, and monitor activities/projects to achieve the business potential of the assigned Business Unit (Companion Animals). The job location is Johannesburg. Supports activities in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa countries.
Requirements
- +7 years' experience in Commercial positions (Marketing and Sales) in the Pharmaceutical Industry preferably in the Animal Health Business
- Experience in developing commercial strategy to meet sales & marketing objectives.
- Founded experience in Key Account Management
- Ability to lead and direct across direct strategy across various customer/segments.
- +5 years' experience of front-line leadership & people management experience.
- Experience in cross functional working.
- Analytical thinking, decisiveness, building high performance team & network, strategic thinking, proactive and autonomous, planning, self-organization and co-ordination, ability to work in un-constructed and changing environment, Ability to work under high pressure, Advanced negotiation skills are key skills and competencies.

- Accountable for defining and executing short, medium and long-term strategic objectives for business strategy
- Continuously deliver defined financial targets;
- Secures flawless implementation of approved strategies, aligning/controlling the reporting organization, in order to perform better terms vs the market
- Develops and controls the commercial conditions of the BU portfolio to maximize sales and profit.
- Closely monitor budgets and expenditures
- Double hat for sales and marketing & technical management
- Steers the design and implementation of marketing plans on market trends
- Constantly monitor and control the BU's economic performance, immediately recognizing variances to correct the course of action
- Support on maximizing ROI and measuring brand elasticity to investment to improve the effectiveness of marketing investments
- Own Business Development activities
- Maximize the performance of the distribution channels
- Planning, Management and execution of Customer Business Plans and activities
- Forecast management and accuracy
- Optimum balance on push / pull trade sales
- Lead and develop the BU teams including but not limited to coaching, performance management, talent management and career development
- Maximizes the value of the human capital
- Responsible for legal and ethical compliance of team
- Maximize the support of and co-operation with other AH BUs and enabling functions
