We are seeking a highly talented and motivated individual to join our Tech/Engineering Team as our new Head of IT!! This role is open to CT, JHB and PTA applicants.
The main purpose of this role is to structure, manage and enable the IT department in terms of Service Delivery and IT operations, covering Infrastructure Management, IT Administration, Application Support and Monitoring and Alerting.
The Head of IT reports directly to the CIO. This position is responsible for managing the Service Delivery (service desk, etc.) and IT Operations (LAN, WAN, Endpoints and Applications environments), Monitoring and alerting and IT Administration functions within the business.

Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Is Not Limited To)
- Define the delivery team organogram to cater for effective scale and line management within this department
- Create capacity to deliver to business domain needs; own recruitment, internship programmes and succession planning for departmental teams
- Implement processes to ensure effective and efficient team delivery, including, for example, Incident and Response Management, in line with the broader department
- Create and monitor metrics to gauge the health of department teams
- Work with SCRUM masters, where applicable, to respond to metrics, with changes to improve delivery
- Remove inefficiencies and blockers for the teams, solve process and technical issues that could be affecting performance
- Empower delivery team leaders to implement the changes they need in their unique teams, whilst creating repeatable, reliable processes across the department, and which can be leveraged by other technology domains in the department
- Make sure that good practices (e.g. technical discussions) are happening within the department domain teams and that the quality is consistent across teams
- Hold teams accountable for their actions; allow teams to fail fast; create a high performance environment
- Ensure that sufficient time is allocated to tech debt, to improve performance and reliability of systems
- Drive Risk Assessments and associated Risk Mitigations related to this department
- Monitor IT Applications and Infrastructure Systems
- Engage in process improvement initiatives throughout the department
- Manage Vendors and Third-Parties of this department from onboarding to offboarding, including associated Service Levels. Establish Vendor Service Levels, where applicable
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders on service delivery and improvement of IT Services
- Manage the finances of the Department including Budget Management
- Manage the IT Administration functions related to:
- Identity & Access Management (User Registration/De-registration & Access Control only)
- IT Asset Management
- IT Finance Management
- Provide support to the Audit process and ensure that audit findings are closed down within committed timeframes
- To share knowledge with and gain knowledge from other domains through collaboration, forums, summit participation, etc.
- Monitor and manage the domain teams performance
- Communicate defined metrics and KPIs to team members
- Define clear performance standards to domain teams
- Coach and empower people within the domain structure to hold teams accountable and to implement required changes
- Conduct formal bi- annual performance reviews with direct reports
- Monitor staff compliance to HR policies and procedures, support team in following HR processes
- Own quality of service within the domain.
- Be able to guide, support and coach teams with respect to governance and technical questions
- Work closely with the architecture team to define the technical roadmap which supports the business strategy
- Ensure effective knowledge sharing with teams regarding technical approach and architecture for the domain
- Ensure effective implementation of defined technical approach through teams in the domain
- To manage the budget and associated invoiced costs for the service delivery and IT operations areas of the business
- To ensure effective cost management and value delivery for the spend Mukuru incurs
- Attend all required weekly meetings
- Attend monthly performance and bi-annual meetings with CIO
- Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)
- Related tertiary qualification (Essential)
- People Management qualification (Desirable) or equivalent experience
- 10 years experience in IT Application and Infrastructure Management (Essential)
- Min 5 years experience in managing multiple delivery teams (Essential)
