lead the group-wide payroll function across all locations, ensuring we deliver excellence as we continue to grow and increase our headcount. I act as a Specialist, taking a continuous improvement approach in developing and aligning all group procedures and related processes, controls, and governance. I lead my team to ensure that we provide the best remuneration experience for our employees as this plays an integral part in overall employee experience and I lead on investing in the development and maintenance of a seamless and effective payroll process, delivering a quality service to our people.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
- lead the payroll team across all locations to ensure the seamless running of the department and look for opportunities to add value through implementing best-practice and process improvement.
- I manage payroll operations in all locations to ensure accurate and timely payments to employees.
- I contribute to the strategic direction for the payroll function, meeting key controls and ensuring compliance with local Audit standards and company policy.
- I business partner with HR and Operations to ensure a smooth flow of timely and accurate data into payroll reports.
- I support my colleagues in the Finance Team in data preparation, reconciliations, and reporting.
- I manage and develop the UK, SA, and Australia payroll teams. Providing technical guidance and being the point of escalation for any queries.
- I enhance control checks and review payroll schedules before submissions.
- I manage relationships with the 3rd party payroll providers.
- I am responsible for all statutory submissions and payments in the local jurisdictions.
- I implement our new Query Management Tool (Freshdesk).
- I manage overpayment collections, reducing the level of overpayments and improving collection rates.
- I manage payments and reconciliations relating to employee compensation & benefits.
- I update Payroll faqs regularly.
- I manage the administration of the UK pensions scheme and look at different options available.
- I update payroll processes to sync with our migration to a new HR system (Sage People).
- I lead continuous process improvement in all areas of the payroll process.
Experience and Requirements
- I have a minimum of 5 years experience in a payroll department, with some experience in a UK payroll, preferably with experience working in a finance-based payroll function.
- I am a highly motivated person with a track record of identifying issues and delivering solutions in a payroll environment.
- I am able to build strong relationships with a number of different partners to work in a collaborative environment.
- Strong Excel skills are essential.
