In this role, you own the procurement agenda in your business unit and are the single point of contact for the business units leadership team, which works to understand the business needs and translates them into effective procurement plans. Your deliverables include productivity, quality, service, cash and procurement process effectiveness, and supplier-enabled consumer solutions across innovation, sustainability and well-being. You may lead a team of procurement specialists and you will serve as a community leader for all procurement team members in your area of responsibility. In addition, you are also a member of the regional procurement leadership team.
How You Will Contribute
You will work closely with business-unit executives to understand business needs and translate them into procurement plans that are executed at the business-unit level. In addition, you will communicate business unit expectations to procurement teams and ensure strategies reflect these expectations. You will be the single point of procurement contact for executives in the business unit; align business-unit resources to deliver procurements commitments [e.g., productivity, service, inflation mitigation, commodity price/risk management, cash, innovation, source-to-pay (STP) compliance BCP, and quality]; manage procurement specialists to implement the procurement agenda and STP process and engage local procurement team members, regardless of reporting line, by acting as a community leader, and supporting local procurement hiring/on-boarding, and; recruit, retain, and develop a team of direct and indirect reports.

What you need to know about this position:
Drives the procurement agenda for the SSA Business Unit (BU), acting as the single point of contact for the BU LT for the Global Procurement function. The position assists with the execution of short-term and long-term strategies that align with the company goals for reducing costs and achieve company financial goals.
Translates BU goals on sustainable growth, value delivery and other business needs into effective procurement action plans, partnered and aided by suppliers. Assesses near-term and long term plans to establish supplier priorities balanced with business needs; consults with management, and other subject experts to develop alternative solutions; advises on options, risks, total cost of ownership, and business impacts. Location based procurement leader across all spend towers, categories and operations team.
As a member of the regional procurement leadership team and BU MSC extended leadership team, the position directly leads a team of Procurement Managers and Specialists to support the BU and also leads the larger BU based global procurement colleagues, owning the overall engagement and career agenda.

- Bachelors Degree / diploma in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or Logistics or Procurement or Commerce.
- Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or similar qualification or studying towards CIPS qualification would be beneficial.
- More than 10-12 years experience in a procurement/supply chain role, with the last 5 years at least in a procurement managerial capacity, leading a Procurement Team.
- Develop competitive advantage for our business, with the objective of thought leadership with suppliers and leading performance on business fundamentals and KPIs. Understanding and scanning the market constantly for opportunities to unlock value across all the categories.
- Support the Regional Spend Area Teams in defining the strategy for the strategic categories through category management processes such as local spend and market analysis.
- Responsible for unlocking value and reducing costs through the sourcing strategies driven by market intelligence, spend analysis, tenders, RFQs, negotiations and achieving budget in the local BU SSA markets.
- Develop and deliver local BU strategy plans through a comprehensive understanding of supplier offerings and their relative capabilities within the BU to support localisation of suppliers where applicable.
- Develop and partner with key strategic suppliers, who are highly capable, flexible to the complexities of our business and able to unlock value through re-engineering in the local BU markets.
- Support other relevant departments in the BU and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations.
- Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant BU departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.
- Keep the BU business up to date on commodity indices and trends with support from the regional category specialists, identify potential risks to the overall BU business by interpreting global forecasts, indices and commodity reports and propose mitigations to the business.
- Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications in the SSA BU.
- Conduct research for new components and suppliers.
- Compile data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation, and provide tools to the function to support effective mitigations / actions against poor performance with the SSA BU.
- Develop superior value propositions using key Procurement tools and systems for the SSA BU.
- Own delivery of key KPI targets, gap closure and mitigation planning to achieve these.
- Attend key customer/ supplier meetings as the category expert, further driving thought leadership.
- Financial Metrics COGS Productivity, Cash & Comm/Fx and Non-COGS Productivity impacting BU P&L
- Market Intelligence Generation and analysis of market data for local commodities, to facilitate coverage, pricing and forecasting
- Supplier Performance and Development Enhancing metrics on OTIF, building and executing robust BCP to drive sustained growth. Mapping and developing adequate supplier capacities with efficient geographical network. Focus on localisation to optimise imports.
- Quality and Food Safety Ensuring adherence to MDLZ internal standards and compliance to external govt/regulatory norms. Partnering closely with the QFS team at a BU and regional level.
- Statutory Compliance - Partnering the BU LT to keep pace with the diverse govt. directives on digitalisation, localisation, sustainability, EPR (extended producer responsibility) and PLIs (production linked incentives)
- Execution Excellence Partnerships with Global Business Services team to drive third party engagements effectively with stated value delivery on global procurement programs.
- Process Excellence Partnering the global Procurement Capability function to implement new age technologies locally, including training and tool adoption. Delivery of best-in-class Source-to-Pay (STP) process metrics. Adherence to the Global Procurement policy (GPP), with good audit results. Focus on sensitive areas ion, assessment and closure of control gaps.
- People and Engagement Enabling wider organizational programmes around engagement and careers, providing coaching and relevant exposure to colleagues as needed.
