Head of Retail and Logistics

This role is responsible for Retail systems (ERP, Planning, Replenishment, Product Lifecycle), and Logistics (Warehousing, Import Logistics) working closely with the relevant Departments.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Application Manager to join our team and help our retail business grow. The ideal candidate is an organized and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in software applications and related technologies. The role will specialise in the Oracle SAAS cloud suite of Retail systems, Product Lifecycle (CentricPLM), and Logistic systems (Oracle WMS, Tradecloud).

Cape Union Mart has adopted a suite of world class cloud technologies and is looking for a candidate who can drive adoption and return on investment, key to this role will be an understanding of retail processes.

Key Responsibilities

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
  • Expert in above processes and systems with the ability to identify areas of need, and build a strong team to strengthen ITs partnership with the business
  • Strengthen relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring they align with the company's values and objectives. Establish clear expectations, SLAs, and standard operating procedures to enhance partnership effectiveness.
  • Manage enhancements from requirements gathering to implementation and go live
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop a comprehensive IT roadmap aligned with business objectives, including identification of new technologies and solutions that can drive innovation and improve operational efficiency.
  • Lead the implementation and adoption of new retail and logistics applications, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and processes. Develop and execute change management strategies to facilitate smooth transitions for end-users.
  • Monitor industry trends and innovations which will help to elevate our solutions and strategy
  • Create a high-performing team by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent. Foster a culture of continuous learning, mentorship, and professional growth within the department.
  • Demonstrates a collaborative mindset, nurture teamwork and influence cross-functional activity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication including strong presentation and group speaking skills
  • Understand process steps and data flows end to end across involved systems

SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT
  • Deep understanding of data and messages between systems
  • Validate and align process and system changes with stakeholders
  • Provide support for issues arising in systems
  • Analyse and propose improvements in processes, methods, and tools for areas of responsibility
  • Leads a team to identify, document, and communicate opportunities and their potential improvements related to processes, technology and people areas
  • Shares information cross-functionally to improve workflow processes
  • Responsible for on-time delivery and overall quality of deliverables
PARTNER MANAGEMENT
  • Establish and document Standard Operating Procedures with the external service providers
  • Define support strategy and manage SLAs with service providers
  • Prepare and conduct quarterly partner reviews
Experience

Beneficial areas of knowledge and expertise for this role:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Business
  • 5+ years of experience in Oracle or similar
  • 5+ years of experience in a functional senior IT managerial role
  • Retail experience is critical to this role
  • Experience or understanding of end-to-end multi-channel processes
  • Strong knowledge of the Oracle technical system architecture
  • Demonstrate high level analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven project management skills
  • The ability to lead and inspire a team, cultivate collaboration, and effectively manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external business partners.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
