We are on the search for a highly motivated, skilled and passionate Health and Safety officer to join our team at Head-Office, Midrand, South Africa !
You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety policies, procedures, and programs. This includes, but is not limited to, risk mitigation through identifying , monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe work environments and developing measures to close those risks. You will work closely with the management team and other corporate functions to ensure that safety measures are integrated into all operations and activities.
What does the role involve ?
You will conduct regular safety audits and inspections of our worksites, equipment, and processes to identify and evaluate potential hazards and risks. Be responsible for the establishment of company policies on Safety and Health in line with all relevant and applicable legislations.
Your collaboration with other organizational departments and stakeholders to ensure that safety measures are integrated into all operations and activities - will be key. Train all employees on safety protocols and procedures and conduct regular safety meetings and drills. All while promoting a culture of safety and to ensure the familiarization of all personnel in respect of HSSE policies and procedures. You will investigate and report on accidents, injuries, and incidents to determine their root cause and develop corrective actions to prevent their recurrence.
Keep up to date on industry standards , trends and best practices related to safety, and communicate this information to management and employees as needed. Manage safety-related documentation and site files, including incident reports, training records, and regulatory compliance documents. Ensure legal compliance through ensuring that all documentation , policies, directives and manuals pertaining to health and safety are reviewed and updated.
Your effective stakeholder's engagement skills with our clients in different trades and segments, is key i.e. clients in mining ,construction, internal clients in different business units ranging (but predominantly in) the sales teams .Ensure all safety files are maintained. Ensure all checklists and inspections are completed on a daily, monthly or quarterly basis to ensure compliance.
What You Need Is
- Completed tertiary qualification in Health, Safety and Environmental discipline (or related discipline)
- Min 3-5 years of experience working in Health and Safety, preferably in a related industry i.e. Mining or Construction
- Knowledgeable on Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
- Good experience with HSSE management during development, construction, and operational phase of projects.
- A self-starter with a demonstrated history of implementing.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Strong personality and leadership skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational and administration skills.
- Highly motivated and results driven.
- Must be willing to travel nationally to our various offices and clients (as and when required)
