Reporting to the CEO you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the function of human resources within the group. You will be required to act as the bridge between management and employees driving the overall functional aspects of HR resources.
HQ is based in Cape Town, however, the company will consider a Gauteng resident who does not want to relocate. The position requires extensive travel to the national factories based in Cape Town, West Coast, Johannesburg, Rustenburg and Durban
The main issue that you will be tasked with is setting a new structure for HR with representatives in each major site as well as the need to rebuild the HR value proposition. This will mean at least a few days in each site every month until further notice. I envisage at least 2 weeks a month of travel every month for an extended period.
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Relevant HR qualification, NQF 7 graduate or higher preferable
- A mining/construction or manufacturing sector background would be a suitable fit.
- Experience covering recruitment & selection, payroll administration, learning and development, performance & recognition, and employee relations.
- Proven MS Office skills
- Solid HR reporting experience with a natural aptitude towards numeric
- Develop and manage human resources planning, policies, and strategies in collaboration with a central services team.
- Recruit, source, and select employees, being actively involved at skilled and more senior levels and giving guidance to subsidiaries at more junior levels.
- Oversee and manage the payroll function, ensuring compliance and submission of PAYE, Employment Equity, medical aid and other reports.
- Manage employee onboarding, training, and development with a strong focus on developing a culture of health, safety, and environmental care.
- Manage employee relations on an individual and collective level, representing the company at the CCMA and a variety of bargaining forums.
- Reward and retain employees to ensure a positive work climate providing high levels of employee engagement.
- Redeploy and retire employees, managing promotions, demotions, separations, retirements, leaves of absence, and relocations.
- Manage employee information and analytics.
- Manage employee communication and organisational development programs.
