As a HR/People Operations Specialist you will be supporting our People Team in managing, planning, and improving the people strategy around payroll, compensation and benefits. You will also be responsible for ensuring the learning & development needs of the team members are executed in accordance with the business objectives.

You demonstrate tenacity and willingness to go the distance to get something done. You are passionate about technology and using software tools to build an industry leading People Team. You will serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact in several of the people operations focus areas. You will also be cross trained in the overall work activities of people operations and be flexible to support other activities as needed.
You are an ideal candidate if you have:
- A bachelors' degree in Human Resources / Organisational Psychology / related.
- 4+ years of relevant work experience in dealing with Payroll and employee benefits.
- Experience working in a scaling tech company with exposure to either an all-remote or hybrid environment.
- Ability to work within a distributed team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Experience using technology to automate processes, such as an HRIS system like BambooHR and Monday.com.

- You have experience in the full employee life cycle.
- Strong problem solving and organisational skills - able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and occasionally ambiguous environment.
- Aligning our people practices with our business objectives and company goals.
- Shaping foundational people processes by finding the perfect balance of employee experience, efficiency, and budget.
- Serve as point of contact for all employee benefits.
- Researching compensation trends and reviewing compensation surveys.
- Support learning and development activities
- Create regular reports and presentations on HR metrics.
- Provide support in other activities in People Operations as needed.
- Administration support for the People Operations Team.
- Manage and improve employee benefit systems and policies. Including the administration of payroll, benefits, leave, bonuses etc.
- Prepare employees' compensation by the end of each month using payroll software.
- Process and calculate other financial compensations or deductions (e.g., annual bonuses, severance pay, taxes, worker's compensation).
- Ensure salaries and tax withholdings comply with regulations, including working with authorities (e.g., SARS) on audits or requests.
- Answer questions about compensation, benefits, taxes and insurance deductions.
