Human Resources/Social Responsibilities Manager

The Human Resource/Social Responsibilities Manager leads and directs the HR team to enable them to deliver a comprehensive HR service to the business. The HR Manager proactively advises on best practice and where necessary takes a hands-on role in dealing with issues/cases. The HR Manager supports the people management functions that underpin the business culture. The broad areas include: recruitment, training, employee relations, strategic HR, remuneration and reward, development, performance management, talent management, general administration

General/adhoc

Two areas of high importance which will be given priority are as follows:

Social Responsibility
  • Manage and oversee the Social Responsibility program which include:
ABET learning (Spouses and the community)
  • Pre-school facilities
  • Health Care Centre - Wellness programs, awareness programs, preventative medical treatments and the treatment of minor ailments
  • Supporting sports teams
  • Arrange and plan social functions
Labour relations
  • Investigate all industrial issues and keep abreast of current legislation and industry trends (including arbitration decisions and collective bargaining outcomes)
  • Represent the company at disciplinary hearings and act as prosecutor
  • Prepare and distribute disciplinary related documents, including CCMA and Labour Court preparations
  • Plan, organise, direct, control and coordinate the training of all labour relations activities of the organisation
  • Manage employee relation issues, including harassment, work complaints and other employee concerns
  • Initiate, co-ordinate and participate in bargaining talks
  • Liaise with and ensure regular meetings with shop stewards
This is a highly specialised position that acquires the individual who has experience in reviewing the whole HR function and taking the lead in implementing structures, policies and proceedures as well as having the ability to get staff buy in.
