To support our project development team, beginning at the earliest possible date, we are looking for a qualified and dedicated Head of Project Development
Your Job
- Overseeing IBVs project development activities in South Africa from greenfield to operation according to high, international standards with the local development team
- Serving as a Director of the IBV operational entity in South Africa
- Manage a multi disciplinary team of min 5 people in the local development team based in Johannesburg, South Africa
- Leading the origination of new business opportunities (Solar PV, BESS and Wind large scale projects)
- Leading bid submission for power purchase agreements (PPA) for existing and newly developed projects
- Managing the development team to identify and secure land, grid connection feasibility, lead permitting and all authorizations for all projects until Financial Close
- Corporate set up and management of established operational and project entities
- Overseeing and managing all local project stakeholders, from offtaker to grid operator, governmental bodies, service providers and contractors
- Being responsible for operational entitys budgets, key milestones and strategy leading to success on assigned deliverables
- Managing the review of project agreements: PPA, Interconnection, lease agreement, JV agreements, EPC and O&M contract
- Serving as the interface with all project functional areas: Engineering, Project, Finance, Accounting, Legal and external stakeholders
- Managing project due diligence processes
- Master or Bachelors Degree in a relevant subject area, preferable finance, legal, engineering, business
- A minimum of up to 5 years experience within solar business and 10 years minimum work experience
- Experience managing a multidisciplinary team is essential
- Proven Project management skills during origination and development stage in large scale solar or comparable projects
- Familiarity with the public tender processes within South Africa specifically REIPPP would be an advantage
- Understanding of the project and corporate structure of large-scale renewable energy projects
- Understanding of South African energy market specifically offtake possibilities
- Experience and familiarity with structured project finance and the sensitivities of equity and debt providers related to the respective terms of the PPA
- Attentive to details as well as being able to understand the broader picture
- Self-driven and able to work flexibly with stakeholders from different cultures.
- Experience with complex, multi-stakeholder projects
- Fluent in English, competent in Afrikaans. Additional languages would be an asset
