Job Purpose
To provide a high-quality experience for students, staff, and other customers who contact the College in person, via email and over the phone, and to provide efficient administrative support as required.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist in running of circulation desk (issuing, renewal & returning of book loans) Daily handling of newspapers (including scanning and clippings)
- Daily handling of journals Daily shelf reading
- Check that all equipment (computers, printer, copier) are functional Assist in updating of notice boards
- Assist in preparing and mounting library displays Assist students with using computers.
- Help students with OPAC searches.
- Ensure that library in neat and professional at all times.
- Provides clerical support to the Librarian e.g. photocopying handouts, helping during workshops, checking subject guides and database worksheets.
- In addition to these typical duties, may perform other duties as assigned and required.
- Grade 12/ Matric.
- Higher certificate or equivalent in office administration would be ideal.
- 1-2 years experience as a receptionist.
- Experience within a higher education institute is preferable.
- Computer literate.
- Knowledge and understanding of the South African higher education systems and regulatory framework.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Attention to detail.
- Telephone Etiquette
- Effective communication skills.
- Customer service orientated.
- Ability to effectively cope with change.
- Deadline orientated and can work well under pressure.
- Be able to work in a team environment.
