The Platform Risk Manager's primary purpose is to oversee and mitigate the risks linked to clients' I.T. platforms. This involves identifying potential and future risks, evaluating their impact and likelihood, and formulating and executing risk management plans and strategies.
The Platform Risk Manager will collaborate closely with the Demand team to manage any deviations from standards, comprehend the client's needs and risk appetite, and design risk management strategies that cater to their unique requirements.
The Platform Risk Manager is to ensure the reliability and resilience of client I.T. platforms by minimizing or avoiding potential losses or damages that could impact the client's operations, finances, or reputation.
This position requires a deep understanding of I.T. platform technologies, configuration and security best practices, and risk management principles, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with clients and other stakeholders.
The Platform Risk Manager will be accountable for the overall effectiveness of risk management strategies related to client I.T. platforms and will report to senior management on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify potential client risks associated with client I.T. platforms and assess their likelihood and potential impact.
- Develop and implement risk management plans and strategies to mitigate identified risks, including but not limited to backup and disaster recovery plans, and incident response procedures.
- Monitor the effectiveness of risk management strategies and adjust them as needed to ensure that client I.T. platforms remain reliable and resilient.
- Work closely with Client Success Managers and Service Delivery Managers to understand their client needs and risk tolerance and to develop risk management strategies that are tailored to their specific requirements.
- Communicate effectively with clients, senior management, and other stakeholders about potential risks and risk management strategies.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging trends and best practices in I.T. platform risk management.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and guidelines related to client I.T. platform risk management.
- Provide training and support to other members of the I.T. team and clients on risk management principles.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on I.T. platform risk management and provide guidance and advice to CSMs/SDMs and other stakeholders as needed.
- 5+ years of experience in I.T. platform management.
- 2+ years of experience in I.T risk management or project management would be beneficial.
- The ideal candidate should have experience with risk management methodologies, tools, and techniques, as well as experience in developing and implementing risk management strategies for various IT management practices, including;
- IT service management (ITSM)
- Performance management
- Configuration management
- Capacity planning
- Change management.
- Problem Management
- A strong understanding of I.T. platforms, including operating systems, cloud infrastructure, and security fundamentals are essential.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills are necessary to work effectively with senior management, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate should be able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and build consensus among diverse groups
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team to achieve results.
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, information technology, or risk management or equivalent industry experience.
- ITIL 4 Foundation
- Previous Microsoft MCSE/MCSA traditional on-premises infrastructure support experience
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Code B South African drivers license
- Own means of transport
