As Senior Broker Servicing Consultant you will collaborate with our South African based Underwriting and Operations teams in the handling of insurance business for corporates and their brokers. You will provide technical and operational assistance to meet clients', intermediaries', and internal underwriting needs, enabling true portfolio underwriting duties and responsibilities directly impacting productivity, process efficiency, timeliness, profitability and accuracy of the underwriting process as well as our service delivery to customers. This position may require occasional travel for business meetings or training.
Your Main Tasks
- Working as an integral part of the team to partner and drive underwriting submissions, mid-term adjustments and renewals.
- Ensuring a dedicated focus to servicing of new business, MTA's and renewal of International Program (IP) business, coordinating with external brokers/clients as well as internal stakeholders throughout the IP value chain.
- Supporting the Underwriting team with renewal package preparation (deal analysis of renewal accounts) and endorsement triaging and preparation.
- Preparing and issuing documents (binders, policies, endorsements, and certificates) to our brokers and clients.
- Collaborating with our centralised Credit control team to follow up on outstanding premium positions and broker queries.
- Being front of house to own and resolve broker and customer-facing issue's while delivering a proactive and exceptional experience.
- Collaborate with brokers to ensure full data requirements received on new business, MTA's and renewals.
- Promoting our products and services and being the go-to person for our internal and external partners.
- Developing a deep knowledge of processes, system touchpoints, areas for potential defects, areas for future improvements and becoming a subject-matter-expert across the operations business unit.
- Updating of standard operating procedures and be involved in system change projects.
- Act as referral point for junior team members.
- Report to the Operations Manager and work as a senior member of the team, taking on stretch targets and additional projects while assisting team members with workload and capacity management.
- Coordinate team activities and ensure close collaboration with internal stakeholders in Underwriting and Finance teams.
- Compile, sort, review and verify data accuracy using source documents, detect errors, and initiate correction while following-up with customer or process owner regarding any inconsistencies found.
You will be joining the local South African team, having a variety of proficiencies, skills, and experience, all committed to bring success to Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Africa. In the role of Underwriting Analyst, you will work closely with the EMEA Operations teams in centralized and offshore locations as well as your peers in other EMEA locations.
About You
- An insurance related bachelors/master's degree (Relevant Insurance certification is a plus).
- Understanding of Re/Insurance business, particularly in servicing and coordinating lead and follow business with a focus on International/Multinational Programs.
- Minimum of 5years' experience in commercial/ corporate insurance either as underwriting support or insurance broking across various lines of business.
- Property & Casualty Insurance knowledge are a requirement, additional LoB knowledge is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, able to prioritize, plan, coordinate and monitor work.
- Experience with leading a team is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills (reading, written and verbal).
- Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Package (Special focus on Excel).
