We are seeking an Intermediate Project Manager for a period of 6 months with a background in Business Banking and Banking Channels to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg (Hybrid- in office 2 days a week).
As an Intermediate Project Manager, you'll take full ownership of the project lifecycle, setting standards and leading teams to ensure success. You will be responsible for delivering well-defined work packages to clients, while providing effective leadership to both your team and key business users. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of planning, budgeting, and documentation, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. You'll play a pivotal role in guiding and mentoring others, all while driving project success through effective management and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategies to ensure project deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and meet resource constraints. Drive personal and team utilisation targets.
- Lead the full project lifecycle for medium-scale projects with diverse scope, from scoping and prioritisation to delivery, engaging senior stakeholders as needed.
- Manage all phases of the project, including team management, budgeting, and resource allocation, while ensuring effective coordination and completion of deliverables.
- Monitor and track project resources, negotiate for key personnel, and ensure optimal team selection to meet project goals.
- Understand client requirements, address their needs, and evaluate and recommend solutions, establishing clear baselines for delivery.
- Utilise structured methodologies, manage scope changes, and communicate their impacts to stakeholders, securing necessary approvals.
- Maintain realistic project plans and provide regular, clear communication to stakeholders using industry-standard tools such as MS Project.
- Assess project success using metrics and adjust plans where needed. Report project progress to sponsors and management, ensuring transparency.
- Identify, research, and resolve critical problems, providing insights and management reports to guide issue resolution and trend analysis.
- Lead knowledge sharing and post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and improve best practices.
- Proactively manage issues impacting project delivery, establishing clear performance goals and priorities for continuous assessment.
- Coach and mentor project team members, fostering accountability and addressing performance issues where necessary.
- Set individual and team goals, provide regular feedback, and identify training needs to support continuous team development.
- Facilitate effective communication between project teams and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding of project goals.
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
- Project Management qualification or certification (CAPM, PMP, Prince2, SCRUM)
- Management qualification or relevant years of experience

- Experienced in collaborating with stakeholders and conducting strategy studies, requirements gathering, and feasibility assessments.
