Intermediate Technical Support Electrician - Solar - Various locations

Our client, an independent power and affordable solutions provider in the renewables sector, is looking for Intermediate Technical Support Electricians to join their team in various locations nationwide.

Locations: Cape Town, Polokwane, Nelspruit, Durban, George, Bloemfontein and Port Elizabeth.

The successful individuals will be responsible for assisting with troubleshooting, technical assistance and installations, whilst helping to assist the engineering team with closing out projects, verifying documentation, as well as quality assurance and compliance.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Must be qualified / competent in working on electrical systems up to 480Vac and 1500Vdc.
Assist Electrician/ Supervisor/ Engineering Team to conduct site inspections and draw up requirements for the installation of products on the customers' site.
Assist electrical sub-contractors to install product correctly and commission product in accordance with specificati
Assist with installation of testing equipment, prototype, and products.
Assess and maintaining existing products or systems.
Help to install equipment in factory environment from time to ti
Assist with maintenance on site, in the factory or around the office as required.
Assist with assessing compliance of new and existing installations and carry out corrective action if/when required.
Conduct quality assurance assessments from time to time and report back to engineering team.
Assist customers and sub-contractors with technical support queries/problems and ensure that systems remain operational at all ti Call-outs and after-hours work may be required.
Respond to emergency breakdowns onsite. Call-outs and after-hours work may be required.
Ensure the adherence to Safe working practices, policies, and procedures.
Ensuring all documentation and recording of work is completed to a high standard.

Assist in ensuring that installed products and systems always remain in operation and functional at all ti Where systems have failed, restore their service as quickly as possible.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience as a maintenance electrician with solar system installation exposure or similar.
Must be qualified as an Electrician.
Minimum N3 electrical engineering qualification required (preference will be given to candidates with N4 or higher).
PV green card accreditation and 3-phase Wireman's license is preferential.
Must be able to complete reports and assess documents in a timely manner in order to complete tasks and projects.
Must be able to read technical drawings, installation manuals, wiring diagrammes and Standards documents.
Must be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Office.
Experience working with electrical distribution and control systems up to 480 VAC, 3PH and 1500Vdc.
Experience with fault finding and troubleshooting on existing installations (1-phase and 3- phase AC as well as DC solar systems) would be advantageous.
Experience with solar inverters and understanding solar installation designs would be advantageous.
Must be able to effectively communicate in English and be able to distinguish between various wiring colours.
Must be able to communicate with clients effectively and cordially.
Must be able to work under pressure.
