Job Description
As part of its ongoing commitment to best-in-class financial processes and controls, Anglo American is seeking an individual to act as a subject matter expert and team coordinator to work as part of its Risk and Controls team within Global Shared Services (GSS).
The ICFR Compliance Coordinator will be positioned to support GSS within the Anglo American group with meeting global and local compliance requirements for internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR). Driving behavioural and attitudinal changes towards controls and compliance within GSS.
Performance & Delivery
- Work with stakeholders across the GSS, including leadership and control owners to implement and monitor financial reporting and operational control standards
- Responsible for line managing and leading Internal Control Specialists and Analysts within the GS Risk and Controls team
- Deliver training to GSS colleagues on control standards and operation
- Proactively identify the impacts of changes in business processes to financial compliance, and ensure effective mitigation of any associated risks
- Identify opportunities for continual improvement and optimization in processes and controls
- Provides mentoring and guidance to control operators, enabling them to manage and maintain RACMs, and enables robust change management
- Supports management and finance teams through various processes enabling them to undertake control self-assessments
- Plan and drive delivery of risk-based control reviews, in consultation with GSS stakeholders
- Coach and review colleagues work, including that undertaken over controls reviews
- Evaluate and respond to control testing results, working with relevant stakeholders to create remediation plans, compensating controls and mitigating controls as needed
- Accountable for tracking and reporting on remediation actions to ensure effective and timely responses to control review outcomes
- Actively participates in ad-hoc enhancement and compliance projects across the GSS
- Collaborates and consults with the global IT function in support of the management of risks relating to Fraud and Segregation of Duties
- Support relationship with internal, external audit teams including supporting management responses, and align with key internal stakeholder and third-party service providers
- Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues and senior stakeholders across the GSS and wider AA business
- Accountable for effective and timely reporting of data to management, inside and outside of the GSS
- Support the GSS Incident Management and Risk Management processes
- Bachelors Degree in Auditing / Finance / Risk
- Professional designation (CPA or CA) required
- 8 years experience in audit, risk and controls environments
- Prior management role within in a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Environment i.e. within a SOX registrant; or as Audit or Advisory professional to SOX registrants
- Specialist knowledge in interpretation and application of SOX standards
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
