Catalonia Trade & Investment is the Catalan Government agency for foreign investment and business competitiveness. It promotes innovation, internationalization, trade and funding of Catalan companies and startups. It also organizes trade missions in countries chosen strategically for their business and technology cooperation opportunities. In addition, it offers specialized one-stop-shop services to international investors and corporations, attracting foreign direct investment to Barcelona and Catalonia. Headquartered in Barcelona, Catalonia Trade & Investment operates 40 offices around the world, covering over 100 markets.
We are looking for an “International Trade Advisor/Project Manager” for our Johannesburg office with an excellent understanding of the international trade environment and experience with exports & imports in different sectors. Strong knowledge of international economics and experience within the southern African markets is necessary for the role.
Key Competences and Skills
We are looking for a business-oriented, proactive, and result-driven person with a positive and team-oriented attitude.
In addition, we expect you to have:
· Degree in a relevant field such as business administration or international business or equivalent industry experience.
· Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
· Knowledge of the industry ecosystem in South Africa and knowledge of international trade, import/export
· Excellent capabilities for creating and maintaining personal networks, good interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills.
· Must have the legal status to live and work in South Africa.
- Deep Knowledge of the South African market
- Communications skills, comfortable on the phone (database building from scratch)
- Organized: necessary to be able to meet deadlines
Other Desirable Skills
· Knowledge of European business culture and industry, as well as Catalan or Spanish language, is an advantage.
- Acts as an advisor on matters of tariffs, markets, federal and foreign regulations
- Organize meetings, delegation visits and travels (involved in the logistics and being present at events to ensure prospects’ good experience)
- Keeps informed of international events and changes to laws and requirements that may impact operations
-Ability to organize, prepare for, conduct, and follow up on a business development activity.
-Ability to work independently in a proactive and accountable manner, whilst managing multiple priorities.
-Ability to develop and maintain a diverse network of clients, contacts, and business influencers; and,
-Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, and provide strategic advice.
