Role Purpose
This role is the key role for delivering high quality timely and insightful reporting to meet both the monthly reporting requirements and full/half year audits.
The role will also be the key role for statutory, technical, tax and cash management on a local level. The role is also responsible for delivering a robust, dynamic cash flow forecast for South Africa.
Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on
- Full end to end month end responsibility, including delivery of quality commentary to FPA and Head of Finance.
- Reviewing/preparing weekly cash flow forecasting/requirements and ensuring maximum return on cash.
- Processing of payroll journal and advanced inter company journals.
- Actively managing reduction of journals and journal lines.
- Statutory filing for AFS, Income Tax, Other tax returns, levy refunds etc.
- Inspiring leadership of direct and indirect reports and driving staff development.
- Maintain Process Efficiency ,continuous improvement.
- Monitor and maintain a strong internal control environment.
- Own the SA organisations compliance with the local tax legislation.
- Balance sheet accounts - Maintain the integrity of the general ledger (and subsidiary ledgers), including ensuring all accounts are reconciled monthly and run the bad debts provision quarterly review process to ensure provisioning has been calculated as per group policy.
- P&L, Balance Sheet and Working Paper completion, submissions to Australia and flow of info and assistance to FPA team.
- Implementation of the new accounting standards including training broader team on changes to accounting standards.
- Drafting technical accounting position papers for any accounting issues.
- Preparing Annual Financial Statement in accordance with the latest accounting standards.
- Undertake transfer pricing planning and implementation.
- Maintaining key hand offs to FC & FP & A teams, as well as dotted line into Group Finance Operations and to the Business key role players.
- AdHoc duties as required.

- Manage the performance of team members as well as being hands.

- Ideally CA (SA) Qualified or equivalent experience in a similar role
- Strong technical knowledge IFRS, Tax and SARB.
- Good understanding of local statutory and tax compliance and reporting obligations.
- Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft products, particularly Excel as well as established accounting packages.
- You will demonstrate a track record of working for a global organisation and with demonstrated ability in adhering to tight deadlines and working under pressure.
- Strong organisational skills, ability to manage own time and work independently.
- Ability to demonstrate highest levels of ownership on accountabilities, with uncompromising standards.
- Willingness to challenge and question existing practices and processes to confirm ongoing relevance or suitable weighting of time and effort.
- Attention to detail and capable of combining different items of information to identify problem/ solution.
- Able to illustrate well-developed problem solving skills.
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner with all levels of customers and stakeholders, both internal and external.
