This role reports to the Sales Manager.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Category GMV - Seller pipeline: Maintain a target list of key brands and sellers both locally and internationally.
- Ensure health/retention of key category players
- Drive retention and growth of key lines by category
- Promotions: Ensure high availability of promotions on key lines by category
- Converting SKUs: Ensure liquidity of offers - Speed: Drive In-stock availability of key lines by category
- Catalogue quality: Maintain best in class catalogue quality metrics
- Relevance: Ensure depth of participation in category specific campaigns
- Discovery: Ensure category winning and up-and-coming lines are discoverable
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze category performance metrics and identify trends, opportunities, and challenges.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including account managers, promotions and merchandising team, and sellers.
- Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate with sellers to ensure the best terms for the marketplace.
- Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at the same time, and to coordinate with various teams to ensure the successful implementation of promotions and campaigns.
- Knowledge: E-commerce Knowledge: Understanding of how e-commerce marketplaces work, including the dynamics of supply and demand, the importance of catalogue quality, and the role of promotions and campaigns.
- Category Knowledge: Deep understanding of the category they are managing, including the key brands and sellers, the key lines, and the market trends.
- Marketing Knowledge: Understanding of how to drive traffic and discovery, and how to create a robust pipeline of winning lines for marketing to call out.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement a strategic plan for the category, based on the performance metrics and the market trends.
- Problem Solving: Ability to identify and solve problems that might affect the performance of the category.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changes in the market and to adjust the category strategy as needed.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain high catalogue quality and to ensure the in-stock availability of key lines.
- BCom or equivalent
- Postgraduate preferred
- 5 - 7 years experience in a Category Managing Buying or Planning functions
