Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Cleaning and disinfecting of small animal clinics such as ICU and Highcare;
- Maintain bio-security of all patients while they are hospitalised;
- Cleaning and disinfecting cages, feeding bowels and blankets;
- Assist with animal handling;
- Removal of medical waste containers to designated area;
- Flexibility to assist in other sections in the OVAH when required; and
- Performing shift/weekend duties.
- Grade 12- and 1-year experience in animal caretaking and/or experience as Kennel hand
- Knowledge of animal handling; and
- Knowledge of F10 hygiene control programmes.
- Knowledge of small animal nursing procedures, biosecurity measures and procedures and handling of small animals;
- Some knowledge of detergents and disinfectants;
- Meticulous about detail, professional and a responsible person;
- Appropriate language and communication skills;
- Organizing skills and a strong service orientation;
- Physical mobility;
- Ability to work under pressure and without supervision;
- Computer literacy;
- Ability to work weekends and outside normal working hours when required for continuous service delivery in the hospital; and
- Willingness to perform shift duties.
