As a Factory accountant, you will prepare, develop and analyse financial information in order to support the management accountant and operations in its decision-making. You will need to establish and maintain financial policies and management information systems, as well as provide a high-quality support service by liaising with management colleagues on all aspects of finance. The role combines accounting skills with business management skills.
Main Responsibilities
- Preparation and reporting of accounting and financial data related to Manufacturing Operations;
- To manage daily, weekly, monthly cost reports and ensure that this information is correct;
- To manage general ledger reconciliations and analyzes of information;
- To assist and support the Management Accounting function in forecasts, budgets, audits reports and projects;
- To ensure that the information on the ERP is correct via adherence to operational procedures;
- Manufacturing cost accounting involving investigation, analysis of costs and variances, follow up and reporting, including structured monthly reports, capex analysis and factory project accounting;
- Responsible for budgeting and cost control using agreed company cost investigation methods;
- Implement and maintain standardized reports for inventory, labour and waste variance, service and quality;
- Stock take follow-up and analysis; and preparation, evaluation and reconciliation of stock takes;
- Raw Material and WIP reporting (including aging)
- Advising on the financial implications and consequences of business decisions
- Oversight of factory controls over production, inventory management and cost management;
- Ensuring full compliance with Finance SOP's like Month End Processes, cut off procedures, stock count procedures;
- Interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial managers.
- Developing reports and interpreting cost drivers, KPl's and benchmarks.
- Reconciling the management accounts to financials on a monthly basis.
- AD-hoc financial duties as and when required.
FORMAL QUALIFICATION
- Matric
- Com (Acc) or studying towards / CIMA qualification would be advantageous
- Some working experience in a FMCG manufacturing environment
- Knowledge and experience related to supply chain and manufacturing operations
- Knowledge of MS Office (especially good Excel skills)
- ERP experience would be advantageous
