We are looking for a strong Accountant to support the Financial Management team. This role will take responsibility for ensuring the accuracy and completion of general ledger accounting and ensure that all transactions and processes meet the finance department's internal guidelines and timetable.

Key Performance Areas and Responsibilities:
  • Approval of monthly and weekly payment batches, to liaise with creditors to resolve queries.
  • Administer PO tool and monitor budgets for variance analysis (non- stock).
  • Monitor deadlines of accounts payable team.
  • Oversee and review various treasury, accounts receivable and accounting tasks and reconciliations.
  • Processing monthly journals (eg. Accruals, prepayments etc).
  • Prepare month end supporting schedules and variance analysis to budget.
  • Prepare General Ledger account reconciliations.
  • Prepare month end balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly VAT reconciliation and complete VAT returns.
  • Assist with interim and full year audit.
  • Maintain internal controls and compliance with company policies.
  • Ad-hoc duties as required.
Essential skills, behavior and knowledge required:
  • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate - high school qualification) / RPL at same level.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or finance related studies.
  • Minimum of 4 years' relevant experience in the above key performance areas.
  • e-commerce background preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of IFRS highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Navision or similar accounting package.
  • Analytical, logical thinker, capable of seeing the bigger picture.
  • Assertive with strong communication skills and the ability to articulate ideas clearly.
  • Able to adapt and change in direction and focus quickly.
  • Motivated self-starter.
  • Able to perform under pressure and the meet deadlines.
