The perfect candidate for this role will be an experienced Project Developer with expertise in the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector. They should possess strong analytical skills and be capable of conducting feasibility studies, as well as yield and risk assessments, in order to determine the viability and bankability of projects. A master's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering is required, along with a thorough understanding of the land acquisition and permitting processes in South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully navigating the planning stages of early-stage development, including bidding and tendering processes. They should also possess comprehensive knowledge of industry laws and regulations, ensuring full compliance with the regulations set forth by NEMA and NERSA. Furthermore, they should have a proactive approach to addressing and mitigating any potential issues that may arise during project implementation.
In addition to technical expertise, the candidate should demonstrate strong business acumen, including experience in developing new business opportunities and managing budgets. Education Requirements
- Must have a master's degree in Electrical (or Mechanical) Engineering
- PMP certification is highly advantageous
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in PV project development
- A track record of successfully developing and delivering large capital renewable energy projects from conception to consent and have obtained construction approval
- Experience in taking projects through the key planning stages including scoping, submitting planning applications
- Excellent risk management performance to minimize project and development risks
- Experience in interacting with external stakeholders in a professional environment
