How Youll Make An Impact
General
- Successfully applies a broad knowledge to complex concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialisation.
- Completes complex design, development and implementation of new and emerging technologies, platforms and service.
- Performs research and advises on an existing or emerging technology and associated services and processes.
- Conducts analysis in support of a complex process control designs during engineering and commissioning (optimisation), coal fired power plant experience is a must covering process control up to and including unit co-ordination.
- Completes a range up to complex process control schemes and support relating Client Proposals / Requirements.
- Identifies and resolves complex problems related to process and technology and applies problem-solving skills to deal with most situations.
- Overall, provides technical leadership and mentoring of engineering staff to ensure efficient accomplishment of goals and objectives.
- Plans the required activities.
- Prepares reports and documentation of the results.
- Analyses the system behaviour and the interaction of single elements.
- Executes the hand-over to the customer personnel and their briefing.
- May make optimizations of disciplines.
- May contribute as test engineer to admittances, routine and type tests.
- May perform or support the determination or specification of the required test equipment.
- May control the mentioned tasks and /or provide supervisory guidance at site.
- Be able to travel at short notice to plants that require fast support.
- Travelling in South Africa and on the Continent.
Various principal areas of responsibilities are (not exhaustive):
- Work in a team or as a group lead role during proposal, engineering and commissioning phases.
- Interface to client or other OEM experts related to the Siemens Energy function.
- Engineering
- Interpret input data and engineer project specific deliverables based on the input data and contract requirements.
- Accurately report on status and deliverables.
- Documentation as per requirements with the responsibility through to acceptance.
- Apply Best Practices throughout.
- Put into service specific parts of the deliverables working in or leading a larger team.
- Be skilled in process control and optimisation with knowledge of complex 3rd Party interfaces.
- Accurately report on status and deliverables.

- Writing of reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ensure ongoing education and development of both self and others with knowledge transfer.
- Minimum BEng/BSc degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years experience ideally with Pr.Eng.
- Experience working in project leadership role.
- An Engineer who has a strong control engineering and optimisation (commissioning) based experience working on DCS (Distributed Control System) systems in coal fired power plants.
- Has been involved in several projects in areas ideally including engineering design, commissioning, optimisation and documentation.
- A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the instrumentation and controls engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields
- Ability to build effective working relationships (customer and colleague), persuade and influence, and problem-solve complex issues.
