Our clients is a nationwide hazardous waste management and environmental remediation company, who is seeking a Environmental Officer in Durban, KZN.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure company complies to relevant environmental legislation
- Management of environmental emergency incidents
- Management of historical contamination
- Management of uncontained spillages
- Providing internal environmental guidance and recommendations
- Conduct site visits, collecting data to establish a baseline condition for levels of pollution or contamination for a site or areas of consideration
- Technical Report
- Communicating with clients, regulators, and sub-contractors
- Adhoc duties
- Experience with Environmental/Contamination Site assessments
- Environmental Science/Geohydrology/Geology degree
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word and SharePoint
- Own Vehicle
- Detailed experience and knowledge of the relevant Acts is beneficial
- National Environmental Management Act (Act No. 107 of 1998)
- National Environmental Management: Waste Act (Act No. 59 of 2008)
- National Water Act (Act No. 36 of 1998)
- Fixed term contract
- Location of Office: Durban
- Hours: 07h30 to 16h30, Monday to Friday and one Saturday per month
