Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for Environmental Management on the project.
- Oversee the implementation of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
- Assist in the implementation of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, focusing on environmental aspects.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Environmental Management Programme for the EOC project.
- Conduct environmental audits at the construction site and propose mitigation measures to address findings.
- Monitor environmental performance on the set management systems, produce data, and report on performance.
- Develop and communicate action plans to improve environmental performance.
- Oversee and monitor Environmental Impact Assessments.
- Implement project site environmental management and monitoring programmes during decommissioning, construction, commissioning, and site handover phases.
- Ensure the development of site compliance reporting.
- Perform oversight of contractors and consultants providing environmental services.
- Assess and report on ways to manage and reduce environmental risks and liabilities.
- Train and transfer skills to junior staff and graduates in training.
- Interface with the Environmental Officers to ensure the project meets regulatory, environmental, health, and safety requirements
- B-Tech Degree in Environmental Sciences/Management or Diploma in Environmental Sciences/Management.
- Active registration with EAPASA (Environmental Assessment Practitioner Association of South Africa).
- 3 or more years of experience drafting environmental management plans, method statements, and conducting environmental inspections/audits.
