We are looking for an Assistant Financial Manager for Mr Price Money (Telecommunications) based in Durban. The purpose of this role is: Under general direction, produce financial reports, direct investment activities and plans to support the long-term financial goals of the business. Assist with the day-to-day functioning & management of the finance team resulting in timeous and accurate monthly, half year & year-end financial results.
Responsibilities
1 . Financial Report
- Compilation and submission of reports weekly, monthly, at half year and year-end. (e.g. Group financial reporting pack - GMB, management pack, board packs & stat packs)
- Compilation of reporting packs supporting report submissions.
- Ensure effective internal control affecting financial reporting
- Maintain and review all reconciliations and monitor controls
- Play key role in the improvement of processes to and initiatives to supporting financial controls including rolling out of IT systems to support financial reporting process
- Prepare budgeting templates and reports.
- Coordinate budget initiatives across the division during the budget process to ensure smooth budget process
- Maintain budget outcomes and facilitate compliance within business to ensure budgets are not exceeded.
- Provide support to division on commercial aspects that may impact financial reporting.
- Stay abreast of financial reporting changes & ensure compliance with IFRS.
- Drafting formal standard operating procedures & implementation.
- Support Financial manager in management of the finance team to ensure accurate reporting, timely payments and reconciliations, while creating a conducive work environment.
- Ensure that the finance team complies with all internal / external audit requirements. This includes preparing working papers at half year & year-end as well as attending any necessary meetings.
- Approve and release payments in order to ensure all invoices are paid timeously. This includes monthly suppliers, and ad hoc payments.
- Use business insights and provide sales & cost centre analysis against budget & forecast in order to provide feedback & / or recommendations at monthly meetings with FM.
- Performance assessment on store feasibility and performance.
- Review of journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Effective control of all costs, cashflow management and other finance efficiencies (e.g. monthly forecasting, SAS expenditure, annual insurance renewals ) in order to maintain the businesses general administration.
- Review of VAT for submissions
- Support FM with strategy of the business and templates.
- Adhoc projects tasks.
- Eligible or registered Chartered Accountant (SA)
- 2+ years financial accounting experience preferably out of audit
