Job Description
The focus areas for this role will be to:
- Ensure that legal requirements, AAP standards and policies are adhered to achieving legal compliance.
- Develop, maintain and manage all mandatory code of practices, ventilation and occupational hygiene related standards and procedures.
- Maintain Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene strategies, systems and compliance measurements.
- Conduct risk assessments and participate in audits and risk management.
- Report findings and recommend appropriate interventions and reporting structures.
- Maintaining asset management and equipment.
- Assist in long-term ventilation and occupational hygiene planning (life of mine).
- Contribute to the achievement of the objectives and targets of the Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene Department and those of the business area.
- Develop and maintain VUMA-3D ventilation models for current, future and project business plan requirement.
- Extensive report writing skills to provide clarity w.r.t. Ventilation and Refrigeration requirements to the project management team.
Qualifications
You will be required to have:
- Grade 12 with Maths & Science.
- Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control (Paper 1 and 2).
- Chamber of Mines (COM) Certificate in Mine Environmental Control (Paper 1 to 6).
- Membership of the Mine Ventilation Society of South Africa.
- Extensive computer literacy in MS Office, SAP, Vuma 3D and VentSim.
- Qualified as Ventilation professional and occupational hygienist with five years experience in ventilation.
- At least 3 years Experience as a Shaft Ventilation Engineer in the active role Planning Projects and reporting
- MHSA and Reg Legislative understanding
- Ventilation project implementation (Raiseboring of Ventilation Shaft) will be advantageous
- Knowledge of managing complex Ventilation circuits with heat-loads and hot underground water
