Job Description
Our client is seeking Hydrogeologist who will carry out studies related to the distribution, flow and quality of groundwater, to make appropriate recommendation on mitigative actions of potential impacts and monitoring requirements, where required, and provide further specialist groundwater input/advice.
Responsibilities
- Liaise fieldwork teams and contractors on site, locally and internationally.
- Interpreting technical data and information from maps and historical documents to build a conceptual model of groundwater flow and quality.
- Design and conduct various groundwater studies, assessments, and monitoring programs, in order to confirm results from or serve as input into hydrogeological models.
- Utilize conceptual and numerical modelling techniques to predict future groundwater trends and/or impacts on groundwater flow and quality, and design mine inflows and dewatering strategies.
- Implement "best practice" environmental standards in consultation with government agencies and clients requirements.
- Compile reports, handle administrative duties, and address environmental and water issues for clients.
- Engage with clients on water and related issues (including marketing of all company services).
- Collecting & interpreting hydrogeological data relating to mine dewatering and water monitoring.
- Undertake field excursions for data collection purposes, both locally and internationally.
- Integrating activities with a team of specialists both technically and socially.
- Provide support and mentorship to junior staff.
- Write project proposals and estimate project costs.
- Fulfil other duties within your expertise as required by clients.
- Conduct field work under strenuous conditions.
- 5 + years experience with all relevant fieldwork in a consulting sector.
- Honours in Hydrogeology (MSc. preferred) or related field.
- Groundwater modelling experience.
- Detailed understanding of applicable legislation/ guidelines relating to groundwater.
- Environmental & Project management experience.
- Valid drivers license.
- Valid passport.
