Specialist: Instructional Designer/eLearning

Description
  • Responsible for providing technical expertise to assist professional work groups in developing new e-learning courses and revising e-learning courses.
  • Management of the internal Learner Management System and owner of the administration rights.
  • Supports projects internally and is responsible for tasks and assignments associated with
development of training.
  • Matric or Matric Equivalent at NQF level 4
  • Certification in multimedia design, content development, or instructional design, or a related field in training development.
  • 2-4 years of demonstrated experience as an instructional designer
  • 2-4 years' experience on an LMS
  • 2-4 years of curriculum design experience using authoring tools
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • 2-4 years' experience using Articulate 360 with proficiency developing on Storyline 360
  • 2-4 years' experience using a video editing software (example; Camtasia)
  • 2-4 years' experience developing SCORM compliant content
Key Responsibilities Finance
  • Coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Integrates emerging instructional methods and technologies into e-learning
  • Manage design costs and resources effectively
  • Ensure effective time management and accurate billing for projects
Customer
  • Develops storyboards and scripts for e-learning and virtual live training
  • Collaboration with internal teams, external teams and management to ensure requirements are being met and projects are kept on schedule
  • Excellent follow-up, time management and organization skills
  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content
  • Work with subject matter experts to identify target audiences training needs
  • Deliver quality products within agreed SLA with all clients
  • Works with project team to design and develop SCORM compliant e-learning
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders' expectations on project delivery
Governance & Risk
  • Review designs for errors before printing or publishing
  • Develop instructional programs that leverage new technologies and multimedia
  • Develop graphics for classroom-based training, online training and websites
  • Strong editing, written and oral communication skills
  • Upload and configure e-learning content into learning management system
  • Creates multimedia products using a variety of software programs, primarily in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Captivate
  • Manipulate and edit imagery, video and incorporate graphics and effects
  • Manipulate and edit sound using various editing software
  • Create images and animations that identify a concept or convey a message utilizing Adobe Photoshop and/or Adobe InDesign
  • Select colours, images, text style and layouts that are professional and convey a specific message
  • Incorporate changes recommended by internal and external clients
  • Develop graphics for course catalogues and course information sheets
  • Develop instructor guides, student guides and Microsoft PowerPoint presentations
  • Apply creative design to the discipline of instructional design with an emphasis on multimedia
  • Apply interaction design and interactive learning principles to instructional solutions for adult learners
  • Select, modify and integrate existing instructional materials that employ multimedia and emerging technologies
  • Must be able to produce training programs for virtual-live training utilizing various software
